چکیده
Ambiguous notation is a powerful tool developed to deal with the complexity of mathematics without sacrificing clarity or conciseness. In the mechanized parsing of ambiguous terms, a disambiguation algorithm can be used to provide the system with the intelligence necessary to select valid interpretations for the overloaded symbols received in input. Disambiguation works by means of an incremental analysis of the input term, progressively discarding all invalid interpretations. As a result, if the input term cannot be disambiguated, many errors will be produced, only a handful of which are truly meaningful to the user. In this paper, we improve the existing technique to classify disambiguation errors by introducing a new heuristic to sort errors from the most meaningful to the least, showing that it can be implemented in a natural way in the existing disambiguation algorithm. We also describe a neat interface to present disambiguation errors to the user, suitable for the use in interactive theorem proving applications.

Spurious Disambiguation Error Detection
The disambiguation approach to the input of formulae enables the user to type correct formulae in a terse syntax close to the usual ambiguous mathematical notation. When it comes to incorrect formulae we want to present only errors related to the interpretation meant by the user, hiding errors related to other interpretations (spurious errors). We propose a heuristic to recognize spurious error...
متن کاملSpurious Disambiguation Errors and How to Get Rid of Them
The disambiguation approach to the input of formulae enables users of mathematical assistants to type correct formulae in a terse syntax close to the usual ambiguous mathematical notation. When it comes to incorrect formulae however, far too many typing errors are generated; among them we want to present only errors related to the formula interpretation meant by the user, hiding errors related ...
متن کاملImpact of Entity Disambiguation Errors on Social Network Properties
Entities in social networks may be subject to consolidation when they are inconsistently indexed, and subject to splitting when multiple entities share the same name. How much do errors or shortfalls in entity disambiguation distort network properties? We show empirically how network analysis results and derived implications can tremendously change depending solely on entity resolution techniqu...
متن کاملMerging error analysis of name disambiguation based on author similarity
Falsely identifying different authors as one is called merging error in the name disambiguation of coauthorship networks. Research on the measurement and distribution of merging errors helps to collect high quality coauthorship networks. In the aspect of measurement, we provide a Bayesian model to measure the errors through author similarity. We illustratively use the model and coauthor similar...
متن کاملDetection of Japanese Homophone Errors by a Decision List Including a Written Word as a Default Evidence
In this paper, we propose a practical method to detect Japanese homophone errors in Japanese texts. It is very important to detect homophone errors in Japanese revision systems because Japanese texts suffer from homophone errors frequently. In order to detect homophone errors, we have only to solve the homophone problem. We can use the decision list to do it because the homophone problem is equ...
